Supporting Our
Community
Many think of a Base
Spouse’s club as a social organization that holds
monthly lunches, and meets up for Bunko and Bowling…
While that image is not false, it isn’t the entire
picture. Raising funds to be distributed throughout
the local and national military community is the
underlying purpose of our non-profit club.
Funds are raised primarily
through our Base Thrift Shop and supplemented
through events such as Trivia Night, Craft Bazaar
and Auction for Education.
Funds are distributed two
ways:
WELFARE REQUESTS
In the past funds have been
granted to the following organizations: The USO, LR
AFB First Sergeant’s Fund, Fischer House, The Base
Library, The Base Youth Center, The AF Ball, Scout
Troops, Care Caps, area schools, and many more. The
common thread is that all organizations in some way
serve the local or greater military community. To
make a welfare request, please put your appeal in
writing (e-mail or letter.)
Be sure that you cover
·
WHAT
will be done with the money,
·
WHO will
benefit from funds,
·
WHEN and
how much money is needed,
·
HOW many
military members, families, children will be
assisted,
·
WHERE
you can be reached for further questions.
The LRSC Board members will
discuss and vote on your request at our next
meeting.

School Grant program in the spring.)
SCHOLARSHIPS and SCHOOL GRANTS
For Scholarships and Grants
there is a formal application process. Applications
are usually available in January - information will
be mailed to each school district and will be
available on the club’s website
www.littlerockspouses.com
at that time. Applications are typically due at the
end of March and funds are granted in May.
Scholarships are for military high school seniors as
well as spouses. Eligible schools have a military
population of at least 5%. If a school has
received a welfare donation of more than $500 during
the school year, it is not eligible to receive a
school grant. However, a school may receive a
welfare contribution of less than $500 AND a school
grant.
